City of Refuge is located in the beautiful Pinenut Valley of Carson Valley. It is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday world. It truly is REFUGE.

This home is for these moms to come apart for a while and take a new direction in their lives. The home has a set of "houseparents" who administer house rules in a structured environment. The women are provided with everyday needs such as food, clothes, semi-private rooms and a safe place to live with a caring family.

Consistent learning according to scripture teaches us that the older women should teach the younger women to raise their children, love their husband and other beautiful attributes that many have lost sight of in our current culture. The moms can learn activities such as cooking, painting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, crafts, communication skills, resume writing, computer use and word processing skills, job interview skills, reading and much more. We have medical doctors who have volunteered to provide medical care, including delivery when needed. Each woman is provided with information on how to care for their unborn and newborn baby.  We provide parenting classes through the Douglas County Family Support Counsel.
